Danilo Celebrates Quadruple Win At Calendar Awards

January has certainly been a busy month for Award Ceremonies and for Danilo it has been no different, with the National Calendar Awards taking place last night.

The NCA’s are a major national event (we like to think the OSCAR’s of the calendar world) held annually to celebrate the UK’s best calendars and bring together printers, designers, photographers, artists, publishers as well as the industry’s future ‘the student’. With 25 awards being given, the NCA’s celebrate and reward the best designs from suppliers and design students alike.

Held at the beautiful Stationer’s Hall in London we were delighted to mingle with friends from Calendar Club, Grange Communications, Pixel, Carousel Calendars, Avonside Publishing among others, whilst wandering through the exhibition and admiring all the 2015 nominations.

And this year we were delighted to have received eight nominations and won FOUR awards!

• Winning Best New Title and Best Retail Calendar was our bestselling calendar Disney’s Frozen
• All Beatles fan will be pleased to hear that our Beatles Collection Edition Calendar won the Best Celebrity / Media title
• We were thrilled that the stunning Kelly Brook won the People’s Choice award (voted for on the night) for her glamorous 2015 calendar.

A big congratulations to the other winners of the night including Carousel Calendars, Rose Calendars, Avonside, Pyramid, Flame Tree Publishing and Louise Taylor in addition to the design students who received their merit and highly commended certificates. In particular a very well done to Sharna Guest-Crossly who received the student trophy for her inspiring Alzheimer’s Research UK Calendar.

Journalist, broadcaster and TV star Janet Street Porter hosted and presented the awards. Outspoken and witty, Janet gave her introduction, teasingly asking the question “so where’s my calendar?” and proved to be a great guest at the event.

Now the team are gearing up for showing our 2016 range at Spring Fair in Birmingham this February, and we hope we can replicate our success at next year’s awards!
