DANILO’S CHARLOTTE COMPLETES THE LONDON MARATHON!

Every year the London Marathon attracts thousands of runners but this year saw a whopping 40,000+ people taking part, making it the biggest in the event’s 37-year history.

This fantastic annual event saw fund raisers, amateur runners and elite athletes tackle the 26.2 mile (42.2km) course, starting from Blackheath and ending at St James Park.

And amongst celebrities such as Chris Evans and Sophie Raworth was our very own Assistant Management Accountant Charlotte Shepherd!

We caught up with Charlotte after she successfully completed the course (in a very respectable 6 hours!) and asked her the following questions:

1) How are you feeling today, both physically and emotionally, now that you’ve completed the Marathon?

I think the best word that fits this question is exhausted! Muscles are hurting that I didn’t even know I had but I am still so chuffed that I took part in the London Marathon let alone finished it!

2) How does it feel to raise so much money for the Children with Cancer UK ?

The support we have received in sponsor ship has been amazing! Again a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us!! Raising the money is a challenge in itself.

3) What was the atmosphere like when you were running?

The atmosphere was one of the best things about the whole day! The crowd was amazing and really kept you going when you needed them the most! All ages cheering you on from the side lines – everyone just wants you to make the finish. It was amazing from start to finish! So many people handing out Jelly Babies I was in my element!

4) What helped motivate you to keep going for all 26.2 miles of the course?

There were a few things that kept me motivated to finish the 26.2 miles. Firstly, the amount we had raised in sponsorship for an amazing charity. And the sheer determination I had, nothing was going to stop me crossing that line. I set off to finish and that’s what I was going to do.

5) Would you do it again?

Urm….Would I do it again? I honestly don’t know? My initial feelings after finishing was no never again….But I guess you can never say never right?

We want to wish Charlotte and all the other brave Marathon runners a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS from the Danilo team! 🙂

Anna triumphs in London Marathon 2015

London Marathon 2015

Every year the London Marathon attracts thousands of runners but this year saw a whopping 38,000 people taking part, making it the biggest in the event’s 35-year history.

This fantastic annual event saw fund raisers, amateur runners and elite athletes tackle the 26.2 mile (42.2km) course, starting from Blackheath and ending at St James Park.

And amongst celebrities such as Formula 1 star Jenson Button and Radio 1 DJ Greg James was our own Danilo Sales Office Manager Anna Brown!

We caught up with Anna after she successfully completed the course (in a very respectable 4 hours 48 minutes!) and asked her the following questions:

1) How are you feeling today, both physically and emotionally, now that you’ve completed the Marathon?

Physically I’m feeling knackered! Unfortunately a recent foot injury took its toll so walking isn’t a good look for me today! Emotionally I feel very proud, elated and relieved. Proud mostly, of what I achieved but also because of everyone’s generosity and support. It’s really quite overwhelming.

2) How does it feel to raise over £2000 for the British Heart Foundation?

It feels fantastic! I had been more concerned about that than the run itself at one stage. But people’s generosity has been absolutely beyond expectation. It’s lovely to have so many fabulous and supportive people in my life. Am very proud and grateful to all who helped me smash my 2k target. The British Heart Foundation has a lot of meaning for me so delighted to have raised so much for such a great cause.

3) What was the atmosphere like when you were running?

The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing! Support lined the entire route. Highlights were people pumping music from their balconies, drums echoing through the underground and the brass bands. The Tower Bridge section was phenomenal as we received so many cheers and seeing my friend’s faces in the crowds at 3 points during the run were lovely.

4) What helped motivate you to keep going for all 26.2 miles of the course?

My motivation mostly came from thinking about what I was doing it for. Seeing all sorts of folk from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, some in mad costumes….and all of them have a story and are running this ridiculous distance for their own personal reasons. At one point someone held up a banner saying “Pain is temporary, 26.2 miles is forever” and things like that really hit home. On the other hand, someone else held up a banner saying “Pain now, Beer later” and that also resonated 🙂

5) Would you do it again?

YES!! Injury meant I didn’t get to do it in my target time so will definitely do it again. Would love to do the New York Marathon, it’s on the to do list, but really don’t want to see my trainers for a little while right now!

We want to wish Anna and all the other brave Marathon runners a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS from the Danilo team!
